Joel Reed Mankey
Studio proprietor Joel is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, music producer and educator working both sides of the curtain in the music industry. From palatial halls in Bulgaria, to intimate venues in Bali, Japan, Mexico, Germany, and Scotland, Joel has performed globally—yet always returns to his studio roots in Thousand Oaks, California where he handcrafts custom marimbas in his woodshop.
Joel’s multifaceted career spans performance, production, and education. Equally at home behind the mic or the mixing board, he’s performed on Dancing with the Stars, taught Taiko drumming in Berlin and marimba across the West Coast, and recorded French horn for CBS’s Survivor. As a mixing engineer, he’s worked at top venues in L.A. and toured across North America and Europe, supporting artists on and off stage.
